Identity Management Solutions: Microsoft and Novell Interoperability

Identity management is one of the key issues facing companies today. Windows Server 2008 and SUSE Linux Enterprise use different directories that specify the rights and privileges of individual Windows and Linux users. Our goal is to standardize identity management across Windows Server 2008 and SUSE Linux Enterprise. In doing so, administrators are empowered to give the right people access to what they need—instantly. Whether they're on Windows or Linux. Without the headaches of keeping two directories in sync.

To address this challenge, the staff of our joint Interoperability Lab is developing identity management solutions that facilitate interoperability between Microsoft Active Directory and Novell's eDirectory. In addition, Novell Access Manager will support the WS-Federation protocol. The resulting identity management solution will enable you to utilize a common authentication method for Windows and non-Windows environments. In the near future, there will be seamless integration of Windows Server 2008 and SUSE Linux Enterprise and a better experience for users.
